Well I must congratulate a place, that until very recently I never knew
existed, having its' very own website. Well done and well presented. Now
you may wonder why a stranger is sending email to Gnosall in deepest rural
Staffs and the answer is that I am attempting to research my wife's family
history. Her maiden name is Boughey and I hope that strikes a chord with
some, if not all, of you !
This surname is not very common and originated in the north Staffs /
Shropshire area. There are very few Bougheys to be found outside
Staffordshire, Shropshire and Cheshire and there is a very good chance that
most of them are related to a common ancestor not too far back in history.
I believe that Aqualate Hall was/is owned by the Boughey's and that is not
very far from Gnosall. Does anyone know anything about Aqualate Hall, the
Boughey's, Forton anything ? Any information would be gratefully
appreciated.
James Halligan.
